The CN Puerto Sherry pays tribute to the Guardia Civil as part of the Repsol Cruising League

The 1st Guardia Civil Trophy will be held this Saturday in the waters of the Bay of Cadiz.

El Puerto de Santa María, 4th October 2024 – This Saturday 5th October, the CN Puerto Sherry is organising the Guardia Civil Trophy as part of the eighth round of the Repsol Cruising League which has been held since last spring.

The regatta will not only stand out this time for its sporting aspect, but also for the tribute to the Guardia Civil on the day of its patron saint, framed in the campaign of the 50 values of the Guardia Civil, a symbol of commitment and dedication to the safety of all, especially in our case to protect human life at sea.

To give greater relevance to the event, the programme includes the participation of the Guardia Civil, with the presence of a state-of-the-art vessel and various public activities.

The day will begin at 12:30 with the usual skippers’ meeting, prior to the departure of the boats from Puerto Sherry to the regatta area. On this occasion, in order to strengthen ties and mutual knowledge, 15 civil guards will participate in the regatta by embarking on the participating boats.

The start of the regatta will be at 13:30 h from a Guardia Civil boat, where the judge of the competition, members of the committee and special guests will be present.

Once the competition is over, the crews and guests will be able to enjoy a seafood lunch at the El Fondeo restaurant in Puerto Sherry, after which, at 18:30 h, the trophies will be awarded to the winners of the day.

This meeting will not only be a day of sporting competition, but also an opportunity to strengthen ties between the institutions, the nautical community and the families who come to enjoy this celebration.
