January 29th, 2025 – Once again this year, the traditional Charity Padel Tournament in support of Children’s Stroke has brought together a group of players in solidarity with the aim of raising funds and collecting food. This initiative, which has been held for 22 years, has had the main sponsorship of Puerto Sherry in its last two editions.
The event took place at the Padel Extreme facilities in Jerez, owned by the renowned Cadiz sportsman Antonio Poyatos. In this edition, 24 players took part in a one-day tournament, accompanied by a lunch, prize-giving and the traditional food collection in aid of the Red Cross.
Thanks to the solidarity of the participants and the support of various companies, a total of €3,873.50 was raised, which was donated to the Charbel Institute, an entity which, together with Caritas, the Paediatric ICU and the Neuropaediatric Service of the Puerta del Mar Hospital, is developing the INFANTILE ICTUS project. This initiative provides grants for the treatment of children with acquired brain damage and promotes research into the disease.
Throughout these 22 years, the tournament has managed to collect nearly 10,000 kg of food, destined for organisations such as Caritas, shelters and the Red Cross, demonstrating that sport and solidarity can go hand in hand to improve the lives of those most in need.
The delivery of the donation took place at the Instituto Charbel facilities, and was attended by the Commercial Director of Bodegas Miguel Domecq, José García Delgado; Nicolás Figueras, General Manager of Puerto Sherry; Carlos Zapata, Head of Reception of Puerto Sherry and organizer of the Tournament; the president of the Instituto Charbel Neurorehabilitation Clinic, Joaquín Gómez Canga; Belén Rodríguez, responsible for Marketing and Communication of the Cadimar group, and Antonio Poyatos, manager of the Padel Extreme facilities.
