06 Oct Puerto Sherry and Discakids Bring Smiles to the Bay with the Charity Event “A Day to Disconnect at Sea”
Over 130 participants, 42 boats and a wave of solidarity create an unforgettable day for families with children with disabilities
El Puerto de Santa María, 5 October 2025. Puerto Sherry and Discakids, the platform supporting families with children with physical disabilities, joined forces last Saturday, 4 October, to organize the charity event “A Day to Disconnect at Sea” — a heartwarming initiative offering families a unique experience of joy, connection and freedom on the waters of the Bay of Cádiz.
Sailing for inclusion: a sea full of smiles
Thanks to the sponsorship of Permobil, Karma Mobility S.L. and Puerto Sherry, and with the generous collaboration of numerous boat owners and volunteers from Puerto Sherry and neighboring marinas, more than 130 participants from 39 families enjoyed an unforgettable day sailing across the bay aboard 42 boats.
The event was filled with enthusiasm, laughter and gratitude, as families and volunteers shared the thrill of sailing while promoting inclusion and community spirit.
A gesture of solidarity with special rewards
As a token of appreciation for the solidarity of the participating boat owners, the organization offered 15 tickets to visit the SailGP Cádiz team bases, giving volunteers the opportunity to experience one of the world’s premier sailing events up close.
Beyond the sea: connection, learning and community
In addition to the sailing experience, the day featured an information area with stands from organizations and companies providing services, products and resources for people with disabilities, helping families discover new tools and connections.
The event concluded with a community lunch, designed as a space for sharing stories, building bonds and celebrating a day dedicated to inclusion and togetherness.
Commitment and gratitude
““This event is an opportunity for families with children with disabilities to enjoy a carefree day in a welcoming, natural environment. I want to express my deepest gratitude to all our users and volunteers for their generosity and enthusiasm. It was truly an unforgettable experience for everyone involved,” said Nicolás Figueras, General Manager of Puerto Sherry.
