Puerto Sherry, a pioneer in port digitalisation in Andalusia

Marina implements Portview app for safe and efficient navigation

El Puerto de Santa María, 8 August 2024 – Puerto Sherry becomes the first marina in Andalusia to implement the advanced digital tool Portview, designed to revolutionise the navigation experience and facilitate port management, marking a milestone in the digitisation of port services. This innovative application will help to organise entry to the port, receive documentation and facilitate check-in on arrival, avoiding confusion and bewilderment. It is a pilot experience, which is in beta mode in order to validate the tool with the port and real users. Along with Puerto Sherry, the pilot is also operating in San Antonio de Ibiza and the Marina Deportiva del Puerto de Alicante.

Portview acts as a digital assistant on board, accompanying sailors from the moment they set sail until they moor in port. Its main features include mooring guidance and the sending of documentation. Similar to land navigation applications such as Google Maps, Portview provides accurate and up-to-date directions to direct boaters to their assigned berth, as well as facilitating the submission of necessary documentation, streamlining administrative processes. The app uses augmented reality technology to display additional information about obstacles and conditions in the marine environment, significantly improving the safety and efficiency of navigation.

Portview integrates with Pandora Global, the predominant nautical management system (ERP) in Spanish ports and yacht clubs, allowing a seamless connection between boaters and ports, facilitating processes such as reservations and check-in quickly and efficiently.

This tool becomes an extension of the port, guaranteeing a seamless boating experience. Entering a port is one of the most critical moments in recreational boating, being a source of stress and accidents, especially for novice boaters. Like Google Maps or Waze on land, Portview guides the boater directly to their assigned mooring point, alerting them to hazards along the way and providing the exact location.

With the implementation of Portview, Puerto Sherry reaffirms its commitment to innovation and service excellence, leading the way into the future of recreational boating.
