Clipper Round the World Yacht Race Arrives at Puerto Sherry

Cádiz and Andalusia Become the Global Hub of Sailing

El Puerto de Santa María, August 28, 2025 – Puerto Sherry is gearing up to host, for the second time, one of the most iconic sailing events in the world: the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. From September 5 to 7, the marina will welcome the twelve yachts competing in this epic circumnavigation, after completing the first leg from Portsmouth (UK).

The arrival will bring together more than 200 international sailors, technical teams, families, specialized media, and sailing enthusiasts, positioning El Puerto de Santa María as a key stage in the global ocean racing circuit.

A Vibrant Race Village Open to Everyone

The beating heart of the event will be located at La Terraza de Puerto Sherry, home to the Race Village, open from September 7 to 12. Visitors will enjoy a rich program of free activities, designed for all ages, including:

  • Open Boat Day with guided tours on board a Clipper 70.
  • Talks with crew members and race organizers.
  • Educational workshops on marine wildlife, sailing knots, and navigation.
  • Local food and artisan market.
  • Live music and outdoor sports activities.

The full schedule, including maps and activity timetables, will be released in the coming days.

Sustainability and Nautical Culture

Sustainability will play a central role in this edition, through joint initiatives with the Classic Sailing Foundation and the Ecovela program, aimed at raising awareness and protecting marine ecosystems.

The event will also include institutional receptions and private gatherings with sponsors, authorities, and race teams, set in a welcoming environment with chill-out areas, themed décor, and nautical-inspired hospitality.

Economic and Touristic Boost for the Bay of Cádiz

The Clipper Race stopover will bring a strong economic impact to the region, with high hotel occupancy and increased activity in restaurants, shops, and services across El Puerto de Santa María and the Bay of Cádiz.

At the same time, it will reinforce Puerto Sherry’s status as an international benchmark for sailing, culture, and gastronomy.

The Clipper Race is more than just a regatta; it is a global platform for visibility, business, and tourism promotion. For Puerto Sherry, it represents a unique opportunity for the entire city,” says Isabel Silvela, marketing and sustainability director of the complex.
