24 Apr Puerto Sherry Expands Its Sustainable Commitment with a New Solar Installation at Las Suites
Puerto Sherry continues to chart a course toward a much greener tourism and nautical model. Since this past March 2026, the complex has featured a new photovoltaic infrastructure on the roof of the Las Suites building. This initiative consolidates the marina’s roadmap toward energy efficiency, making a firm commitment to renewable production and minimizing its environmental impact in El Puerto de Santa María.
Technical Details of the New Photovoltaic Plant
The recent installation, which operates completely independently of the one already functioning at the Hotel Puerto Sherry, consists of 69 solar panels of 480 W located on the building’s roof.
The system reaches a peak power of 33.12 kWp and operates using a 30 kW inverter configured for self-consumption. Thanks to this technology, implemented by Solar360 Repsol and equipped with performance optimizers, Las Suites will generate around 60 MWh annually. This figure will cover approximately 40% of the electrical consumption of this space.
A Quantitative Leap in Energy Self-Consumption
This infrastructure at Las Suites joins the powerful 254 kW plant that already supplies the hotel, which managed to cover 40% of the building’s annual energy demand in 2024. With this new expansion, the Cádiz complex multiplies its capacity to generate clean energy, taking a firm step toward electrical self-sufficiency.
Beyond the technical specifications, this project represents a profound transformation in the marina’s management philosophy. Emissions reduction, optimal resource utilization, and renewable energy production are now fundamental pillars of its development.
Management's Vision: Sustainability as a Strategic Axis
Nicolás Figueras, General Manager of Puerto Sherry, emphasizes that powering up this new solar plant underlines the complex’s dedication to efficient management. “This is not an isolated action, but another step within a clear roadmap towards sustainability,” points out Figueras. For the management team, these investments are vital to evolving in tandem with the current climatic and operational demands of the nautical sector.
Meanwhile, Isabel, Director of Marketing and Sustainability, focuses on the integrity of the brand’s message: “This expansion not only improves our energy indicators but also reinforces something fundamental: the consistency between what we do and what we communicate.” Isabel highlights that achieving these high self-consumption rates allows them to offer visitors an experience perfectly in tune with rising values, such as respect for the future and environmental responsibility.
A Green Benchmark in the Bay of Cádiz
With this latest investment, Puerto Sherry secures its position as a clear success model for integrating renewable energies within the tourism and port sector. It is a practical demonstration that economic growth and innovation can and must go hand in hand with absolute respect for the natural environment.
