16 Jun VIII Puerto Sherry Classic Week: A Landmark of Historic Sailing in the Bay of Cádiz
The Memorial Pedro Bores regatta returns to El Puerto de Santa María from June 18th to 21st, 2026, gathering some of the world’s most prestigious vintage vessels for a high-level competition.
The Puerto Sherry Classic Week – Memorial Pedro Bores celebrates its eighth edition this year, solidifying its position as the premier event for classic sailing enthusiasts in Andalusia. Over four days, the Bay of Cádiz will become the epicenter of maritime heritage, where nautical tradition and elegance take center stage.

A Premier Competitive Venue
Organized by the Club Náutico Puerto Sherry and the Fundación Vela Clásica de España, with the support of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, this regatta is more than a sporting event. It serves as a Spanish Cup for Classic and Vintage classes and is a key leg of the XVI Mare Nostrum Classic Trophy.
The fleet, featuring owners and crews from across Spain and beyond, will compete in the Classic, Spirit of Tradition, and Mini categories. The marina will serve as a social hub, blending intense water competition with vibrant cultural exchange on land.
Fleet Highlights
The entry list showcases exceptional historical value:
- Centinela IV: A 14-meter classic launched in 1972, consistently a top contender.
- Gipsy: A legendary vessel from the Fundación Vela Clásica de España, launched in 1927 and an icon of the Mediterranean circuit.
- Featured Fleet: Notable participants such as Infiel, Buzz Lightyear (Retro class), Tira Neruda, Oroville, and Severine guarantee a spectacle of style and tactical sailing.
The event kicks off on June 18th with registration and boat preparation. Competitive racing is scheduled from June 19th to 21st, with the first starts set for 1:00 PM local time.
The Legacy of Pedro Bores
The regatta is rooted in the vision of Pedro Bores, the late president of Puerto Sherry, who sought to make the Bay of Cádiz a world-class destination for vintage yachts. His efforts helped bridge the gap between Spanish sailing and the international scene, notably through a landmark agreement with the Yacht Club of Monaco to alternate classic sailing events.
Institutional Support
The VIII Classic Week is backed by the El Puerto de Santa María City Council, the Andalusian Sailing Federation, RANC, and AEBEC. We also thank our sponsors: Junta de Andalucía, Diputación de Cádiz, Marina Puerto Santa María, and REPSOL.
Beyond the competition, this event acts as a showcase for “Lords of the Sea”—vessels admired for their history, design, and the immense preservation efforts behind each one.
