Cádiz Bay to Host a Historic Week of Sailing, Culture, and Celebration
El Puerto de Santa María, September 7, 2025. – From September 9 to 14, Puerto Sherry will welcome the 10 yachts competing in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, the world’s toughest and most inclusive ocean race. After departing Portsmouth (UK) on September 3, the fleet has sailed more than 1,200 nautical miles under challenging weather conditions, arriving slightly later than originally planned.

A Full Week of Activities for All Audiences
Throughout the week, Puerto Sherry will transform into a vibrant meeting point for sailing enthusiasts, families, and visitors. The Race Village, located at La Terraza, will feature:
- Tourist information stands and local artisan markets
- Live music performances and cultural shows
- Gastronomy highlights such as the Pool Bar and La Terraza restaurant
- Interactive workshops on knot-tying, whale watching, yoga, and hands-on Clipper experiences
On Friday, September 12, the public will enjoy the highly anticipated Open Boat Day, with guided tours aboard one of the transoceanic Clipper 70 yachts docked in Puerto Sherry (16:30 – 20:30).
Historic Farewell: Clipper Race Meets GLOBE40
The highlight of the stopover will be on Sunday, September 14, when the Clipper Race fleet departs for Punta del Este (Uruguay). On the same day, Cádiz Bay will host a historic double departure, as the Clipper Round the World Race sets sail alongside the GLOBE40, another prestigious professional ocean race.
This unprecedented moment will turn the Bay of Cádiz into the world’s sailing epicenter, attracting thousands of spectators and global media attention.
