The Spanish SailGP team has organized, during last weekend, a new training with sailors in Olympic campaign in Puerto Sherry.
These young promises of sailing have been able to train with Jordi Xammar, pilot of the Spanish team and Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo, aboard a GC32, a boat with foil also capable of reaching high speeds.
Specifically, a team of Spanish athletes, most of them pre-Olympic, formed by Nico Rodriguez, Albert Torres, Elias Aretz, Marcos Fernandez, Simbad Quiroga, Maria Cantero and Nora Brugman, has travelled to Cadiz.
The work session, directed by Jordi Xammar, covered everything from tactical and strategic aspects on land to practice in the water, as well as important coordination issues on board the GC32. The sessions have also served as training for Jordi himself, who will be the pilot of the Spanish SailGP team during season 3, which will start in May in Bermuda.
The participation of these young promises of Spanish sailing gives continuity to the SailGP Inspire program, aimed at spreading the culture of foiling, while promoting the values of the sport among young people. In fact, this is the second training that the Spanish team carries out in Puerto Sherry, when a few weeks ago a score of young people from the Yacht Club of the same port had the opportunity to sail in WASZP (dinghy foiling boat).
Keep it up!
