20 Oct Puerto Sherry and Discakids to Embark Over 50 Families for a Day to Disconnect at Sea
The third edition of the solidarity inclusive sailing event will bring together around 275 people and 45 boats on Saturday, October 24, in the Bay of Cádiz.
El Puerto de Santa María, October 20, 2026.— More than 50 families with children with disabilities and various conditions will enjoy a day of sailing and coexistence in the Bay of Cádiz next Saturday, October 24. Puerto Sherry and Discakids are organizing the third edition of “A day to disconnect at sea,” a solidarity initiative that will bring together around 275 people, including families and shipowners, with the active participation of 45 vessels
An Experience of Inclusive Leisure and Disconnection
The proposal offers minors and their loved ones an ideal opportunity to break away from routine, share quality time, and fully enjoy the marine environment. Sailing becomes the central focus of a completely free day, also conceived as a safe meeting space to connect with other families sharing similar experiences and backgrounds.
The Solidarity of the Nautical Community
The involvement of shipowners, who altruistically put their boats at the disposal of the initiative, is once again a fundamental pillar. Their participation makes it possible to bring the experience of sailing to groups that usually face access barriers, turning the event into a major collaborative effort by the local nautical community.
Land Activities and Live Music
Following the voyage through the bay, the program will continue on land with a shared lunch and various recreational activities at Puerto Sherry’s facilities. One of the most emotional and prominent moments of the day will be the live performance by Mía Crespo, a talented seven-year-old girl with visual impairment, who will provide the musical touch to this third edition.
Collaborating Entities
This inclusive event has the essential backing of the Fundación Vela Clásica de España and the Club Náutico Puerto Sherry, joining forces with the organizers to guarantee an unforgettable accessible leisure experience.
What is Discakids?
Discakids is a well-known support platform for families with children and adolescents with physical disabilities, driven by Manuel Corchado.
