Alex Pella will be the next interviewee of the “Navega con Nosotros” series in Puerto Sherry

The Classic Sailing Foundation of Spain together with Puerto Sherry is organising this new series of interviews and colloquiums in which this sailing figure; the first and only Spaniard to win a single-handed transoceanic race, will give an interview to the renowned sports journalist Pedro Sardina.

In addition to the admirable feat mentioned above (winning the Route du Rhum solo (2014) in the class 40 “Tales” setting the record in 16 days, 17 hours, 47 minutes and 8 seconds) Alex Pella has beaten the absolute record for the round the world Jules Verne Trophy as part of the crew of the maxi trimaran “IDEC Sport” which circumnavigated the planet in 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds.

He also broke the record for the Transat Jacques Vabre (Brazil-France), a two-man race, aboard the trimaran “Arkema” in just 10 days, 19 hours, 14 minutes and 19 seconds. He also set a new record for the Tea Route between Hong Kong and London on board the trimaran “Maserati” with Giovanni Soldini and his crew, in 36 days and 2 hours. He set the New York-Barcelona record aboard the IMOCA 60 “Estrella Damm” in 12 days, 6 hours, 3 minutes and 48 seconds (2010). Another of his countless adventures was the attempt to sail around the world to the West, emulating Magellan and Elcano, giving up after crossing Cape Horn.

Alex Pella has participated in three solo Mini Transat 6.50s (2003-2005 and 2007). Runner-up in the Class 40 World Championship (2008) and World Champion (2010). Fourth in the A Dos Barcelona World Race (2011). Winner of the Route des Princes on board the trimaran “Prince de Bretagne 80” (2013).
